“What Unites Us in Christ is Greater Than What Divides Us in the World.”

These words were spoken by Twin Oaks Christian School Chaplain and Middle School Coordinator Mr. Matthew Pannkuk on the first day of school, and they come at a time when deep ideological divides threaten to tear apart our country, communities and even our churches.

At Twin Oaks Christian School, coming back to school means coming up with a biblical theme to guide students, staff and faculty throughout the school year and counter whatever is going on in the world with the refreshing truth of God’s word, which this year focuses on unity in Christ Jesus.

This year’s theme verse is Romans 15:5-6:

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

There are a variety of ways this Biblical truth is reinforced and highlighted throughout the school year. Head of School Mrs. Julie Cordray even integrates the message of Biblical unity into her morning announcements as well as in how she manages and speaks into the lives of her teachers and staff.

“It seems right to focus on Jesus’ call to stand as one in our shared identity in Him, regardless of other differences we may have,” said Mrs. Cordray in her September newsletter. “Inspired by this verse, we will reinforce this truth throughout the year with the motto, ‘One Heart, One Mind, One Voice’.”
