Do you watch HGTV? I don’t get to watch very often, but I especially love the home decorating and cooking shows. It’s amazing to me how some people can take a can of paint, some thrift store finds and well-placed accessories, and turn them into a beautiful living space. Any Great British Baking Show fans out there? The skill and precision those “amateur” bakers use to create something that looks like art and tastes like “amazing” is high entertainment in my book. There’s something about watching people do what they do best that’s satisfying.

From the Eagle’s Nest – October Newsletter

By: Julie Cordray, Head of School

God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good! These are the words the students echo back to me each morning at the close of announcements. It’s a great reminder of such a central truth. But do we move through our days like we really believe it?

We’re almost at the end of the first quarter of school and for many of your children, and maybe for you, the honeymoon is over. Life is busy. Activities fill your schedule. Homework is just one more thing to get done. I’ve been there and done that! Both of my now-grown children went through the paces here at Twin Oaks. I could tell you my own stories: Fruit flies we needed for my daughter’s science project delivered the very next day after it was due. My son using his pudding cup to score a “touchdown” in the hallway, splattering chocolate onto the ceiling (hmmm. . . I wonder if the stains are still there?). Meltdowns at the kitchen table over middle school math. . . and I’m not talking about the kids.

At times like these, it’s easy to forget God’s goodness. What’s more noticeable to us is the incomplete assignment or the chocolate stains on the ceiling. The struggling child or the impossible math problem. Second Corinthians 5:7 has some wisdom for us: “For we live by faith, not by sight.” Why would we need this reminder from the apostle Paul to live according to our faith instead of by what we can see? If you’ve ever noticed a warning sign because it’s yellow, you already have the answer. What’s predominant in our field of vision is what we tend to focus on. The tough circumstance right in front of us is like a flashing neon sign, while the belief that, “God is good all the time,” can fade into the background. It’s not easy to tear our spiritual eyes away from our circumstances, but it is the Lord’s antidote to unbelief.

We say God is good all the time because we put our faith in Him. We say God is good because we choose to fix our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ instead of our circumstances. We say God is good all the time because He is.

So many good things are happening here at Twin Oaks that there are too many to count. Your children are learning and growing. They are loving one another and they themselves are loved! Each day I see good fruit and evidence of God’s grace in the life of this school. But on the days when the shadows of this world dim our spiritual sight, we can remember that Good (that comes from God) is there even when we don’t see it.

Say it with me: God is good all the time. All the time, God is good!

Hickel has three children: Hannah, 21, who is a senior at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kent.; Carter is 18 and a freshman at Saint Louis University; and Elizabeth, 15, is in her sophomore year at Westminster Christian Academy.

Five Fun Things about Mrs. Hickel:
1. I would love to visit all 50 states, and this summer I made it to my 47th state, South Dakota!
2. I worked at a dude ranch when I was in college.
3. In my free time, I like to smock children’s clothing.
4. My family loves Disney!
5. All three of my kids have grown up swimming competitively, so my family is very interested in USA Swimming and our favorite athletes are swimmers. We’ve had the opportunity to meet a large number of them, including 7-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel.

Join us as we welcome Mrs. Hickel to our school community!

Student Birthday Collection Provides for Local Food Pantry

Twin Oaks Christian School seventh grader Sofia Reinken abundantly blessed the Circle of Concern food pantry at critical time when shelves are empty and the need overwhelming.

. This year for her 13th birthday she wanted to do something special for the food pantry, so she challenged herself to collect 1,000 food items.cheap jordan 4 cadena seguridad para moto nike air max 1 ultra moire black white ราคา cadena seguridad para moto converse lugged beige sbloccare oblo lavatrice ariston nfl jersey sales cheap jerseys mallas para hombre nike kallax korkekiilto hylly blogspot corsair ddr3 1600 nfl jersey sales köröm díszítő szalagok sport jumpsuit nike zara long jumpsuit in green

In order to break that threshold, she asked via a hand-written letter if Twin Oaks Church and School would participate by putting out large bins where families could donate as they feel led. They obviously obliged and the outcome was tremendous.

“What Unites Us in Christ is Greater Than What Divides Us in the World.”

These words were spoken by Twin Oaks Christian School Chaplain and Middle School Coordinator Mr. Matthew Pannkuk on the first day of school, and they come at a time when deep ideological divides threaten to tear apart our country, communities and even our churches.

At Twin Oaks Christian School, coming back to school means coming up with a biblical theme to guide students, staff and faculty throughout the school year and counter whatever is going on in the world with the refreshing truth of God’s word, which this year focuses on unity in Christ Jesus.

This year’s theme verse is Romans 15:5-6:

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

From the Eagle’s Nest – September Newsletter

What a joy it has been to have students back in the building for the start of our new school year! All of the summer preparations finally paid off when we welcomed your children back to a community where they can excel in their learning, grow in their faith, and be celebrated for who God has created them to be. What a sweet time of fellowship and exciting time of learning we’ve had these past few weeks with our beloved Twin Oaks family.

Here are some of my top back-to school highlights:

  • Greeting students on the first day with worship music, banners, and balloons!
  • Starting the year off in the sanctuary together, worshiping the Lord during our opening
    chapel.
  • Visiting individual classrooms and getting to know your children (and their favorite
candy) by name–ask them about it 🙂
  • Watching teachers work like crazy to make sure your children felt welcome and had meaningful learning activities to set the tone for a great year.
  • Reading to our PreK friends during library time.

Twin Oaks Announces New Head of School

After serving faithfully as our Head of School for two years, Ms. Kendall Brewer felt the Lord leading her back the classroom.

A Search Committee formed in January of 2021, and by the end of April, the School Board was happy to announce that the Lord brought Mrs. Julie Corday back to Twin Oaks to fill the role as Head of School. Mrs. Cordray brings 18 years of experience in educational instruction, leadership and additional experience with Christian non-profits.
